Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.73% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 10.63% or 680.25 points to trade at 7,076.60 at the close. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 10.03% or 1,335.00 points to end at 14,642.05 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 4.60% or 4.41 points to 100.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:SHCM), which lost 2.89% or 608.05 points to trade at 20,415.45 in late trade. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 1.19% or 8.05 points to end at 666.85 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) shed 0.98% or 64.10 points to 6,471.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 10.68% to 7,076.30, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 10.14% to settle at 14,652.30 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 4.59% to close at 100.35.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.19% to 666.80 in late trade, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which lost 0.99% to settle at 6,474.00 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 0.73% to 4,254.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1041 to 774 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1799 rose and 1403 declined, while 149 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.16% to 17.01.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.06% or 18.15 to $1,737.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.69% or 1.64 to hit $98.90 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.61% or 1.64 to trade at $103.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.18% to 79.67, while EUR/INR fell 0.82% to 80.79.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 106.63.
