Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, IT and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 1.35%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 3.59% or 45.45 points to trade at 1,310.35 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 3.38% or 108.40 points to end at 3,319.95 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 3.35% or 34.65 points to 1,067.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which lost 2.11% or 53.45 points to trade at 2,484.65 in late trade. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) declined 1.14% or 16.35 points to end at 1,414.00 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) shed 0.69% or 11.60 points to 1,669.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 3.59% to 1,310.40, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 3.37% to settle at 1,067.60 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 3.35% to close at 3,319.70.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 2.12% to 2,483.20 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 1.21% to settle at 1,412.65 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 0.09% to 8,377.75 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1133 to 808 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1933 rose and 1561 declined, while 164 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.48% to 14.65.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.42% or 7.90 to $1,877.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.10% or 2.29 to hit $76.06 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.88% or 2.26 to trade at $80.83 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.13% to 82.38, while EUR/INR rose 0.39% to 87.91.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 103.47.
