Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.33%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 8.32% or 28.75 points to trade at 372.15 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 5.95% or 184.95 points to end at 3301.10 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 4.75% or 361.55 points to 7992.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which lost 3.72% or 29.10 points to trade at 753.15 in late trade. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) declined 2.65% or 3.65 points to end at 134.15 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) shed 2.47% or 6.95 points to 274.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 6.09% to 3301.20, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was up 4.26% to settle at 2623.50 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 3.53% to close at 6707.20.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 2.36% to 134.55 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which lost 1.44% to settle at 160.80 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.42% to 723.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 889 to 680 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1342 rose and 1081 declined, while 135 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.04% to 28.0750.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.07% or 0.95 to $1285.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.02% or 0.64 to hit $63.51 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.44 to trade at $73.06 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.09% to 70.135, while EUR/INR fell 0.00% to 78.3370.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 97.718.
