Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.23% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 1.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which rose 4.00% or 48.60 points to trade at 1,264.70 at the close. LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) added 3.79% or 216.80 points to end at 5,944.30 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 3.62% or 52.45 points to 1,501.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which lost 2.05% or 4.85 points to trade at 232.10 in late trade. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) declined 1.96% or 13.65 points to end at 684.55 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) shed 0.98% or 244.50 points to 24,799.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 3.91% to 1,264.00, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 3.61% to settle at 1,501.25 and LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which gained 3.58% to close at 5,935.00.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.01% to 232.10 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 1.04% to settle at 24,786.00 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 0.43% to 5,569.75 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1096 to 1000 and 47 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1948 rose and 1690 declined, while 125 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.11% to 12.32.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 2.57% or 51.35 to $2,048.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.99% or 1.38 to hit $70.85 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.10% or 1.56 to trade at $75.82 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 83.33, while EUR/INR rose 0.31% to 90.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 102.17.
