Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Consumer Durables and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.16%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 5.75% or 53.05 points to trade at 975.35 at the close. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) added 5.04% or 802.15 points to end at 16706.00 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was up 3.37% or 38.15 points to 1170.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which lost 1.51% or 22.80 points to trade at 1482.95 in late trade. UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) declined 1.01% or 76.25 points to end at 7440.00 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) shed 0.92% or 171.05 points to 18500.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 5.57% to 973.40, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 5.13% to settle at 16706.90 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which gained 3.40% to close at 1171.10.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 1.61% to 1482.75 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 1.03% to settle at 18471.60 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 0.97% to 7439.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1358 to 449 and 27 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2216 rose and 1041 declined, while 93 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.64% to 18.6500.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.09% or 1.70 to $1803.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.33% or 0.29 to hit $88.49 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.17 to trade at $89.33 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.00% to 74.749, while EUR/INR rose 0.40% to 84.5445.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 95.960.
