Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Auto, Banking and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.07%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 15.47% or 6.35 points to trade at 47.40 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 13.27% or 16.70 points to end at 139.50 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 7.96% or 1529.40 points to 20491.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which lost 0.97% or 1.45 points to trade at 148.30 in late trade. Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) declined 0.73% or 5.35 points to end at 724.55 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) shed 1.06% or 11.70 points to 1093.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 15.19% to 47.40, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which was up 10.72% to settle at 61.95 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which gained 9.82% to close at 138.15.
The worst performers were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was down 1.04% to 148.15 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 1.04% to settle at 1089.45 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 0.50% to 197.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 971 to 587 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1357 rose and 1022 declined, while 181 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.95% to 15.8775.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.28% or 4.15 to $1489.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.45% or 0.24 to hit $53.12 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.25% or 0.15 to trade at $59.27 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.21% to 71.200, while EUR/INR rose 0.15% to 79.1065.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 97.438.
