Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Metals and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.76%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT), which rose 2.97% or 130.70 points to trade at 4,528.00 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 2.68% or 12.40 points to end at 475.10 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 2.10% or 30.15 points to 1,462.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which lost 1.03% or 31.90 points to trade at 3,060.55 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 0.67% or 7.55 points to end at 1,117.55 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) shed 0.47% or 25.35 points to 5,319.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 2.04% to 1,461.00, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 1.41% to settle at 1,131.90 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 1.33% to close at 118.15.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 0.59% to 1,118.05 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 0.27% to settle at 7,452.90 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 0.25% to 5,334.35 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1428 to 643 and 50 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2191 rose and 1327 declined, while 137 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 8.07% to 11.07.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.45% or 9.00 to $1,996.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.36% or 1.09 to hit $81.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.23% or 1.04 to trade at $85.67 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 83.26, while EUR/INR rose 0.58% to 88.51.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.69% at 105.98.
