Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Public Sector Undertakings and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.67% to hit a new 6-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which rose 4.40% or 15.80 points to trade at 375.25 at the close. ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) added 4.06% or 15.75 points to end at 403.25 and AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK) was up 3.74% or 16.90 points to 468.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which lost 3.69% or 7.60 points to trade at 198.30 in late trade. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) declined 2.75% or 5.25 points to end at 185.75 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) shed 2.69% or 20.75 points to 749.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 3.64% to 468.20, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was up 3.64% to settle at 401.65 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which gained 3.57% to close at 1234.40.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.08% to 513.15 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 1.92% to settle at 2050.40 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 1.68% to 16027.05 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 896 to 714 and 82 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1424 fell and 1181 advanced, while 158 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 20.3800.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.38% or 26.10 to $1921.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.87% or 0.36 to hit $40.83 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.74% or 0.32 to trade at $43.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.25% to 73.106, while EUR/INR rose 0.12% to 86.2795.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 93.347.
