Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Consumer Durables and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.52%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 4.30% or 2.60 points to trade at 63.10 at the close. UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) added 3.85% or 21.85 points to end at 587.45 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) was up 2.72% or 168.10 points to 6335.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which lost 1.40% or 15.40 points to trade at 1084.40 in late trade. Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) declined 1.21% or 10.15 points to end at 829.10 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) shed 1.07% or 7.75 points to 712.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 4.47% to 63.10, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 2.39% to settle at 6333.50 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 2.18% to close at 1357.35.
The worst performers were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 1.50% to 1085.00 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.21% to settle at 830.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 1.21% to 712.85 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1019 to 551 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1522 rose and 896 declined, while 168 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.60% to 15.8525 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.14% or 2.05 to $1517.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.65% or 0.37 to hit $56.89 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.34 to trade at $61.88 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 71.710, while EUR/INR rose 0.11% to 79.0780.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 98.333.
