Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Real Estate and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.50%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART), which rose 3.48% or 89.10 points to trade at 2,650.00 at the close. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) added 2.18% or 10.10 points to end at 472.40 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was up 2.12% or 22.35 points to 1,077.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which lost 1.86% or 141.40 points to trade at 7,465.05 in late trade. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) declined 1.32% or 20.70 points to end at 1,545.05 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) shed 1.26% or 20.85 points to 1,628.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 3.30% to 2,646.55, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 2.14% to settle at 472.10 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 1.65% to close at 2,525.70.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 2.29% to 7,431.05 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 1.37% to settle at 1,625.65 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.29% to 1,546.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1052 to 888 and 87 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1817 rose and 1601 declined, while 152 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.10% to 10.46.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.42% or 8.15 to $1,971.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.00% or 0.80 to hit $78.83 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.97% or 0.81 to trade at $82.44 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.09% to 82.03, while EUR/INR rose 0.41% to 90.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 100.85.
