Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Metals, Auto and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.50%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 4.10% or 50.30 points to trade at 1,277.00 at the close. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) added 3.02% or 101.50 points to end at 3,464.75 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 2.72% or 432.20 points to 16,303.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which lost 2.11% or 33.25 points to trade at 1,542.40 in late trade. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) declined 2.09% or 69.95 points to end at 3,284.60 and Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) shed 1.35% or 48.35 points to 3,532.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 3.78% to 1,272.70, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was up 2.75% to settle at 16,309.25 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which gained 2.60% to close at 2,480.30.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 2.10% to 3,283.75 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 2.09% to settle at 1,542.55 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 1.25% to 947.65 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1197 to 600 and 79 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2015 rose and 1241 declined, while 149 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.07% to 19.05.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.07% or 1.25 to $1,749.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.98% or 1.79 to hit $92.15 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.60% or 1.54 to trade at $98.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 79.87, while EUR/INR fell 0.13% to 79.28.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 108.97.
