Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.38%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which rose 5.02% or 42.50 points to trade at 886.80 at the close. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) added 4.76% or 116.75 points to end at 2566.85 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was up 3.97% or 24.75 points to 647.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS), which lost 2.64% or 153.55 points to trade at 5634.25 in late trade. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) declined 2.49% or 39.05 points to end at 1526.30 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) shed 2.70% or 5.90 points to 212.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 2.95% to 699.10, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 2.51% to settle at 281.60 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which gained 1.78% to close at 160.00.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 2.68% to 1526.60 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 2.63% to settle at 748.60 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 1.76% to 313.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1101 to 499 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1595 rose and 941 declined, while 147 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.38% to 18.8850.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.02% or 12.50 to $1234.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.56% or 0.40 to hit $71.74 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.96% or 0.77 to trade at $81.20 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.18% to 73.815, while EUR/INR rose 0.68% to 85.6675.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 94.68.
