Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.36%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 6.76% or 242.85 points to trade at 3,833.25 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 4.92% or 20.20 points to end at 430.55 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) was up 4.48% or 77.20 points to 1,800.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM), which lost 1.83% or 48.35 points to trade at 2,598.00 in late trade. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 1.46% or 17.00 points to end at 1,146.10 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) shed 1.41% or 64.80 points to 4,525.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which rose 4.55% to 1,801.70, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was up 2.50% to settle at 6,895.55 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which gained 2.50% to close at 104.75.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.49% to 4,524.15 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.08% to settle at 1,513.90 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.03% to 2,520.15 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1074 to 787 and 59 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1941 rose and 1357 declined, while 132 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.80% to 15.65 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.31% or 21.40 to $1,652.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.26% or 2.87 to hit $91.04 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.79% or 2.64 to trade at $97.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.45% to 82.36, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 80.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 112.32.
