Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Banking and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.28% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which rose 3.39% or 10.65 points to trade at 325.00 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) added 2.94% or 12.80 points to end at 447.70 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 2.89% or 47.00 points to 1674.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which lost 2.18% or 4.70 points to trade at 210.50 in late trade. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) declined 2.17% or 12.20 points to end at 551.25 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) shed 1.80% or 9.75 points to 533.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 3.19% to 325.00, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 2.78% to settle at 446.90 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 1.98% to close at 1235.00.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.05% to 210.60 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 1.95% to settle at 552.20 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 1.78% to 463.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 820 to 759 and 15 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1403 rose and 1294 declined, while 134 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.79% to 11.9100.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.87 to $1276.23 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.50% or 0.27 to hit $54.81 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.22 to trade at $60.84 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 64.605, while EUR/INR fell 0.03% to 75.2561.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 94.67.
