Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Public Sector Undertakings and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.20% to hit a new 3-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 14.06% or 24.45 points to trade at 198.40 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) added 5.00% or 4.85 points to end at 101.80 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 2.24% or 15.95 points to 729.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which lost 1.20% or 37.30 points to trade at 3067.50 in late trade. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 1.18% or 0.95 points to end at 79.70 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) shed 1.12% or 184.60 points to 16370.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which rose 1.97% to 727.20, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 1.79% to settle at 536.25 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which gained 1.46% to close at 374.80.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 1.36% to 79.50 in late trade, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which lost 1.19% to settle at 3068.00 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 1.16% to 16357.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1100 to 524 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1676 rose and 931 declined, while 142 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.31% to 19.9575 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.84% or 16.90 to $1996.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.88% or 0.38 to hit $42.74 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.41 to trade at $45.05 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.34% to 74.823, while EUR/INR rose 0.40% to 89.3170.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 92.265.
