Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Oil & Gas and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.16% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which rose 3.86% or 23.45 points to trade at 631.75 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 2.93% or 14.15 points to end at 497.35 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 2.18% or 4.00 points to 187.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN), which lost 1.14% or 37.50 points to trade at 3,240.25 in late trade. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) declined 0.78% or 3.55 points to end at 449.95 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) shed 0.75% or 2.10 points to 277.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 2.56% to 1,576.20, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 1.66% to settle at 131.65 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 1.57% to close at 1,279.65.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.13% to 3,239.40 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 0.75% to settle at 449.95 and LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which was down 0.72% to 5,496.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1451 to 571 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2345 rose and 1168 declined, while 152 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.31% to 11.32.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.16% or 3.15 to $1,929.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.14% or 1.01 to hit $89.53 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.10% or 1.01 to trade at $92.89 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 83.01, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 89.11.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 104.35.
