Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Metals, Auto and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 4.12% or 52.05 points to trade at 1316.35 at the close. Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) added 2.43% or 779.35 points to end at 32861.95 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was up 1.66% or 19.75 points to 1212.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which lost 2.02% or 10.80 points to trade at 524.10 in late trade. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) declined 1.92% or 5.30 points to end at 270.40 and Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) shed 1.49% or 3.20 points to 211.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 2.02% to 1343.00, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was up 1.37% to settle at 2965.95 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 1.24% to close at 2223.95.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.89% to 270.35 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 1.36% to settle at 397.45 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 1.17% to 378.90 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 857 to 696 and 23 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1362 rose and 1136 declined, while 152 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.86% to 13.0075.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.45% or 6.01 to $1345.01 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.28% or 0.14 to hit $49.02 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.30 to trade at $54.50 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.00% to 64.034, while EUR/INR rose 0.48% to 76.7030.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 91.83.
