Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Power, Public Sector Undertakings and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.14%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 2.51% or 80.90 points to trade at 3,299.90 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 2.12% or 30.70 points to end at 1,479.90 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) was up 2.12% or 27.50 points to 1,327.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH), which lost 3.81% or 242.35 points to trade at 6,120.00 in late trade. Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) declined 3.20% or 262.20 points to end at 7,926.45 and LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) shed 1.66% or 89.95 points to 5,320.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 2.17% to 1,480.55, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 1.73% to settle at 1,933.80 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 1.54% to close at 283.85.
The worst performers were LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which was down 1.90% to 5,303.75 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which lost 0.59% to settle at 4,092.15 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 0.57% to 1,122.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1123 to 1019 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1831 fell and 1820 advanced, while 113 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.64% to 15.57.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.10% or 1.95 to $2,040.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.13% or 0.10 to hit $78.64 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.02 to trade at $82.13 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 82.92, while EUR/INR rose 0.13% to 89.95.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 103.76.
