Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Construction and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.18%, while the MDAX index gained 0.53%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 4.13% or 0.500 points to trade at 12.620 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 2.21% or 0.192 points to end at 8.878 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 1.23% or 1.010 points to 83.270 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which lost 2.49% or 0.310 points to trade at 12.125 in late trade. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) declined 0.77% or 0.120 points to end at 15.525 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 0.58% or 0.115 points to 19.640.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which rose 4.02% to 10.09, STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was up 3.76% to settle at 48.830 and Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which gained 3.71% to close at 5.51.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 5.03% to 34.080 in late trade, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which lost 1.06% to settle at 28.945 and Airbus Group (F:AIRG) which was down 0.82% to 53.220 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which rose 1.67% to 34.330, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 1.40% to settle at 25.36 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 1.24% to close at 258.150.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 5.77% to 46.700 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 2.61% to settle at 14.900 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 1.59% to 8.650 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 496 to 390 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.33% to 21.19.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.37% or 4.65 to $1247.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.04% or 0.99 to hit $49.61 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.67% or 0.83 to trade at $50.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1353, while EUR/GBP rose 0.33% to 0.7855.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 94.04.
