Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Chemicals and Software sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Financial Services and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.06%, while the MDAX index lost 0.47%, and the TecDAX index added 0.59%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 0.86% or 1.65 points to trade at 193.55 at the close. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 0.81% or 0.560 points to end at 70.100 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 0.66% or 0.95 points to 144.80 in late trade.

Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which lost 2.25% or 0.170 points to trade at 7.376 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 1.79% or 0.315 points to end at 17.315 and Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11) shed 1.40% or 1.12 points to 78.68.

The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which rose 1.85% to 57.77, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was up 1.84% to settle at 78.400 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which gained 1.57% to close at 38.70.

The worst performers were Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which was down 3.91% to 52.330 in late trade, Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which lost 1.81% to settle at 12.510 and Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which was down 1.68% to 38.405 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 5.14% to 7.751, Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which was up 2.73% to settle at 35.715 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 2.25% to close at 10.470.

The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 1.00% to 13.860 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 0.94% to settle at 48.275 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 0.30% to 60.150 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 377 to 365 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.87% to 14.46.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.52% or 6.35 to $1219.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.24% or 0.13 to hit $53.33 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.09% or 0.05 to trade at $56.06 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.0584, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.8670.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 101.68.
