Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Chemicals, Media and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.74%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.02%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 1.44% or 0.180 points to trade at 12.665 at the close. Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) added 0.84% or 0.950 points to end at 114.050 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 0.81% or 0.100 points to 12.450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which lost 5.72% or 5.120 points to trade at 84.420 in late trade. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) declined 1.57% or 0.910 points to end at 56.920 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) shed 1.48% or 0.170 points to 11.320.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 2.30% to 5.11, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which was up 1.85% to settle at 16.535 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which gained 1.23% to close at 49.145.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 2.92% to 82.510 in late trade, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which lost 2.36% to settle at 34.500 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 1.76% to 32.58 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 16.21% to 5.563, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 4.82% to settle at 25.00 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 4.47% to close at 27.920.
The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 2.83% to 4.084 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 1.66% to settle at 24.955 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 1.44% to 33.800 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 451 to 429 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.11% to 22.76.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.43% or 5.45 to $1247.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.51% or 0.73 to hit $47.68 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.74% or 0.85 to trade at $47.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.1195, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.7746.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 95.43.
