Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Transportation & Logistics and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.40% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index gained 0.32%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 3.57% or 0.490 points to trade at 14.200 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 2.90% or 0.305 points to end at 10.805 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 1.95% or 2.60 points to 135.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 2.79% or 0.600 points to trade at 20.920 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 2.06% or 0.199 points to end at 9.445 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) shed 1.10% or 1.30 points to 117.30.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which rose 3.80% to 12.41, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 3.15% to settle at 78.470 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which gained 2.45% to close at 20.905.
The worst performers were Innogy SE (DE:IGY) which was down 1.67% to 37.665 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 1.66% to settle at 18.100 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 1.39% to 82.950 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 3.35% to 9.828, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 1.97% to settle at 5.480 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 1.85% to close at 61.000.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 8.58% to 9.901 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 3.95% to settle at 34.205 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 3.20% to 12.405 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 464 to 280 and 45 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.22% to 13.31 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.32% or 4.25 to $1331.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.44% or 0.21 to hit $48.28 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.72% or 0.39 to trade at $54.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1965, while EUR/GBP fell 0.75% to 0.9013.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 91.87.
