Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Technology and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Software, Insurance and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.72%, while the MDAX index fell 0.29%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which rose 1.58% or 0.480 points to trade at 30.855 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 0.94% or 0.225 points to end at 24.125 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was up 0.27% or 0.035 points to 12.855 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 1.73% or 0.295 points to trade at 16.805 in late trade. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) declined 1.60% or 0.470 points to end at 28.930 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) shed 1.58% or 0.275 points to 17.095.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which rose 2.44% to 70.48, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was up 1.62% to settle at 50.84 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which gained 1.42% to close at 46.570.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 20.17% to 0.46 in late trade, Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which lost 4.69% to settle at 11.390 and Gerresheimer AG (BS:GXId) which was down 2.43% to 69.090 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 8.20% to 25.150, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 4.34% to settle at 24.890 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 1.75% to close at 12.530.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 2.71% to 6.034 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 1.82% to settle at 51.660 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 1.39% to 69.020 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 409 to 366 and 46 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.51% to 12.03.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.18% or 2.30 to $1263.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.51% or 0.29 to hit $57.51 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.21 to trade at $63.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.1820, while EUR/GBP rose 0.59% to 0.8854.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 93.22.
