Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Transportation & Logistics and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Technology, Basic Resources and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.57%, while the MDAX index declined 0.24%, and the TecDAX index added 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 0.90% or 0.067 points to trade at 7.546 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) added 0.39% or 0.70 points to end at 180.95 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 0.39% or 0.340 points to 86.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 7.89% or 1.510 points to trade at 17.630 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 1.86% or 0.440 points to end at 23.170 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) shed 1.54% or 0.265 points to 16.955.
The top performers on the MDAX were Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which rose 3.37% to 13.955, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was up 1.25% to settle at 47.295 and Innogy SE (DE:IGY) which gained 0.83% to close at 34.190.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 2.43% to 4.66 in late trade, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which lost 1.49% to settle at 63.610 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 1.34% to 34.635 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 4.29% to 60.330, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 2.36% to settle at 24.725 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 1.70% to close at 39.16.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 2.41% to 48.735 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 1.22% to settle at 46.995 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 1.20% to 58.690 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 491 to 272 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.38% to 14.88.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.05% or 0.65 to $1227.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.41% or 0.22 to hit $53.11 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.11% or 0.06 to trade at $55.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.0585, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.8649.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 101.66.
