Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transportation & Logistics, Financial Services and Media sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Retail, Food & Beverages and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.09%, while the MDAX index lost 0.19%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which rose 3.44% or 0.960 points to trade at 28.880 at the close. Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) added 2.35% or 3.550 points to end at 154.500 and Linde PLC (DE:LINI) was up 2.07% or 2.900 points to 142.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which lost 1.78% or 0.156 points to trade at 8.590 in late trade. Covestro AG (DE:1COV) declined 1.06% or 0.620 points to end at 58.040 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 1.00% or 0.092 points to 9.083.
The top performers on the MDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 7.95% to 102.5000, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 3.44% to settle at 82.940 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which gained 2.91% to close at 26.880.
The worst performers were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 8.52% to 31.46 in late trade, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which lost 3.72% to settle at 8.282 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 3.53% to 61.680 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SGL Carbon SE (DE:SGCG) which rose 11.10% to 9.960, Patrizia Immobilien AG (DE:PATGn) which was up 8.41% to settle at 16.750 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which gained 4.58% to close at 125.50.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 5.43% to 50.550 in late trade, SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which lost 3.25% to settle at 11.30 and DWS Group GmbH & Co KgaA (DE:DWSG) which was down 3.17% to 25.23 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 360 to 335 and 85 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.36% to 19.62.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.13% or 1.60 to $1228.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.52% or 1.59 to hit $61.51 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.32% or 1.70 to trade at $71.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1417, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.8727.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 96.11.
