Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Media, Chemicals and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Retail, Telecoms and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.06%, while the MDAX index declined 0.10%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which rose 1.28% or 2.050 points to trade at 162.750 at the close. Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) added 1.01% or 1.050 points to end at 105.250 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 0.76% or 0.105 points to 13.925 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 1.71% or 0.410 points to trade at 23.515 in late trade. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) declined 1.18% or 0.195 points to end at 16.275 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) shed 1.15% or 1.800 points to 154.350.
The top performers on the MDAX were Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which rose 4.48% to 103.450, Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was up 2.73% to settle at 57.95 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which gained 1.76% to close at 37.490.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 3.55% to 4.81 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 2.50% to settle at 36.51 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was down 2.50% to 12.680 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 2.33% to 10.120, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 1.76% to settle at 43.450 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which gained 1.59% to close at 87.660.
The worst performers were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 10.69% to 18.210 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 3.92% to settle at 13.975 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.90% to 24.230 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 426 to 340 and 18 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.79% to 14.49.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.37% or 17.15 to $1232.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.88% or 1.01 to hit $52.82 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.83% or 1.03 to trade at $55.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.0511, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8570.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 102.15.
