Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Financial Services and Software sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.30%, while the MDAX index fell 1.20%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which rose 0.55% or 0.500 points to trade at 90.790 at the close. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) fell 0.11% or 0.045 points to end at 39.215 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG) was down 0.64% or 0.750 points to 116.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 3.84% or 0.505 points to trade at 12.650 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 2.77% or 0.585 points to end at 20.505 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 2.45% or 1.650 points to 65.590.
The top performers on the MDAX were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which rose 3.98% to 56.220, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 0.44% to settle at 81.500 and Rhoen Klinikum AG (DE:RHKG) which gained 0.39% to close at 25.455.
The worst performers were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 5.11% to 27.275 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which lost 3.10% to settle at 28.800 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 2.44% to 40.510 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 8.00% to 89.280, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was up 2.55% to settle at 66.640 and Aixtron SE (F:AIXC) which gained 0.79% to close at 4.438.
The worst performers were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 4.06% to 8.710 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 3.64% to settle at 50.100 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 3.03% to 23.230 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 658 to 201 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.98% to 22.78 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.36% or 17.35 to $1290.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.77% or 0.36 to hit $46.50 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.93% or 0.45 to trade at $48.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.73% to 1.1060, while EUR/GBP rose 0.74% to 0.9030.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.59% at 97.74.
