Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Insurance, Software and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 2.32% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index fell 1.85%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which fell 0.11% or 0.040 points to trade at 37.110 at the close. Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) fell 1.13% or 0.320 points to end at 27.990 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was down 1.18% or 1.000 points to 83.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn), which lost 5.33% or 10.15 points to trade at 180.35 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 4.50% or 0.582 points to end at 12.352 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) shed 3.80% or 7.54 points to 190.70.
The top performers on the MDAX were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which rose 0.86% to 39.900, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was up 0.49% to settle at 12.400 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which lost 0.07% to close at 137.50.
The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (BS:GXId) which was down 4.78% to 64.653 in late trade, Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which lost 4.11% to settle at 104.900 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was down 3.85% to 13.98 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 2.20% to 123.100, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 0.57% to settle at 11.500 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 93.680.
The worst performers were Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was down 9.05% to 29.940 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 5.79% to settle at 13.590 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 5.24% to 150.10 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 719 to 79 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 32.75% to 25.55 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.34% or 4.50 to $1332.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.42% or 0.27 to hit $63.88 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.71% or 0.48 to trade at $67.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.2395, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.8871.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 89.42.
