Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Software, Consumer & Cyclical and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.97%, while the MDAX index declined 1.84%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which fell 0.52% or 0.085 points to trade at 16.325 at the close. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) fell 0.64% or 0.70 points to end at 108.60 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was down 0.82% or 0.680 points to 82.060 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which lost 4.48% or 4.040 points to trade at 86.080 in late trade. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) declined 3.58% or 2.400 points to end at 64.700 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) shed 3.56% or 6.50 points to 176.10.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which rose 3.77% to 73.14, Gerresheimer AG (BS:GXId) which was up 1.19% to settle at 63.900 and Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which gained 0.20% to close at 14.790.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 11.78% to 0.36 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 6.08% to settle at 44.05 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 5.44% to 53.140 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 1.94% to 50.400, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was up 0.20% to settle at 146.70 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which lost 0.12% to close at 82.050.
The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 6.89% to 26.500 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 5.49% to settle at 25.140 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 5.44% to 16.850 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 613 to 132 and 61 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 13.09% to 21.92.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.59% or 7.80 to $1310.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.02% or 0.63 to hit $61.01 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.27% or 0.82 to trade at $63.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.2212, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8884.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 90.59.
