Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Insurance and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.00%, while the MDAX index fell 0.59%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 9.84% or 0.832 points to trade at 9.285 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 5.70% or 1.025 points to end at 19.020 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) was up 0.96% or 0.250 points to 26.250 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 4.56% or 1.290 points to trade at 26.990 in late trade. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 2.38% or 3.78 points to end at 154.80 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) shed 2.26% or 4.20 points to 181.70.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which rose 2.93% to 69.580, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was up 1.98% to settle at 70.940 and Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which gained 1.53% to close at 72.900.
The worst performers were Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 9.76% to 9.787 in late trade, GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which lost 9.11% to settle at 35.330 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 6.43% to 131.00 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 4.53% to 86.600, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 2.17% to settle at 82.350 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 1.40% to close at 6.170.
The worst performers were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 2.77% to 17.550 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 1.82% to settle at 18.110 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 1.73% to 25.500 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 474 to 236 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.30% to 17.49.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.53% or 7.00 to $1327.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.03% or 0.63 to hit $60.73 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.26 to trade at $64.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.2403, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8867.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 89.60.
