Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.71% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index declined 0.47%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 2.67% or 0.560 points to trade at 21.570 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) added 0.65% or 0.200 points to end at 30.810 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) was up 0.07% or 0.040 points to 54.320 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which lost 4.57% or 3.59 points to trade at 74.89 in late trade. Covestro AG (DE:1COV) declined 2.28% or 1.620 points to end at 69.320 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) shed 2.25% or 0.191 points to 8.296.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which rose 1.52% to 56.700, Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which was up 1.20% to settle at 104.34 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which gained 0.98% to close at 37.120.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 7.94% to 33.150 in late trade, Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which lost 5.48% to settle at 10.43 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 5.33% to 58.920 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which rose 1.80% to 22.65, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 1.79% to settle at 42.180 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 1.32% to close at 184.500.
The worst performers were Isra Vision O.N. (DE:ISRG) which was down 4.11% to 51.30 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 3.79% to settle at 114.250 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 3.19% to 19.440 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 487 to 223 and 68 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.71% to 18.33.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.25% or 3.00 to $1204.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.18% or 1.50 to hit $67.22 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.79% or 1.38 to trade at $75.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1622, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.8980.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 95.05.
