Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Media and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.54%, while the MDAX index fell 0.37%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 0.47% or 0.75 points to trade at 161.10 at the close. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) added 0.44% or 0.370 points to end at 84.600 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) was up 0.42% or 0.500 points to 119.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which lost 3.02% or 2.760 points to trade at 88.480 in late trade. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) declined 1.95% or 1.320 points to end at 66.320 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) shed 1.88% or 1.420 points to 74.180.
The top performers on the MDAX were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) which rose 2.24% to 49.38, Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which was up 2.20% to settle at 13.4700 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which gained 1.36% to close at 11.93.
The worst performers were Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which was down 3.01% to 56.400 in late trade, Scout24 AG (DE:G24n) which lost 2.92% to settle at 44.620 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (DE:AT1) which was down 2.13% to 7.580 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 2.88% to 20.740, SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which was up 1.92% to settle at 23.85 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 1.33% to close at 22.090.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 3.52% to 42.720 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 3.43% to settle at 10.840 and Isra Vision O.N. (DE:ISRG) which was down 2.91% to 53.30 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 434 to 267 and 81 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.75% to 15.58.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.61% or 7.40 to $1204.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.58% or 0.40 to hit $69.91 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.32 to trade at $77.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.1646, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.8964.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 94.81.
