Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Chemicals and Media sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.40%, while the MDAX index lost 0.23%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which rose 3.19% or 2.220 points to trade at 71.780 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) added 1.47% or 0.720 points to end at 49.620 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 1.22% or 0.111 points to 9.224 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which lost 4.01% or 6.18 points to trade at 148.00 in late trade. Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) declined 3.79% or 5.150 points to end at 130.650 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) shed 3.40% or 4.85 points to 138.00.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which rose 16.31% to 39.29, Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which was up 1.44% to settle at 28.100 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 1.42% to close at 32.890.
The worst performers were Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was down 4.87% to 79.340 in late trade, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which lost 4.70% to settle at 47.000 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 4.28% to 43.860 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which rose 4.22% to 48.900, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was up 3.89% to settle at 29.920 and Rhoen Klinikum AG (DE:RHKG) which gained 2.97% to close at 22.900.
The worst performers were Isra Vision O.N. (DE:ISRG) which was down 7.71% to 33.50 in late trade, Shop Apotheke Europe NV (DE:SAEG) which lost 4.95% to settle at 38.400 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 4.70% to 47.000 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 369 to 317 and 96 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.73% to 19.39.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.86% or 10.60 to $1218.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.01% or 0.52 to hit $51.11 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.97% or 0.59 to trade at $59.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.1280, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8858.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 97.385.
