Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Basic Resources and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.33%, while the MDAX index fell 0.46%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 0.61% or 1.15 points to trade at 191.10 at the close. Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) added 0.45% or 0.50 points to end at 111.25 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) was up 0.43% or 0.120 points to 27.920 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 1.43% or 0.300 points to trade at 20.690 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 1.34% or 0.340 points to end at 25.055 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 1.05% or 0.750 points to 70.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which rose 2.20% to 81.250, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was up 1.81% to settle at 47.55 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which gained 1.20% to close at 64.100.
The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (BS:GXId) which was down 4.42% to 62.210 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 2.51% to settle at 17.670 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 2.33% to 37.275 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which rose 8.21% to 13.900, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 6.96% to settle at 5.100 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 0.82% to close at 16.080.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.81% to 11.250 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which lost 2.80% to settle at 89.450 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 2.52% to 31.54 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 507 to 244 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 8.88% to 16.18.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.70% or 9.28 to $1339.68 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.40% or 0.19 to hit $47.48 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.37 to trade at $52.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.1919, while EUR/GBP rose 0.55% to 0.9215.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 92.45.
