Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Transportation & Logistics and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.28%, while the MDAX index declined 0.13%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 1.35% or 0.109 points to trade at 8.172 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) added 0.43% or 0.90 points to end at 209.80 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) was up 0.42% or 0.90 points to 217.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which lost 2.04% or 1.400 points to trade at 67.240 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 1.81% or 0.360 points to end at 19.540 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) shed 1.50% or 0.340 points to 22.270.
The top performers on the MDAX were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which rose 4.28% to 34.13, Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which was up 3.50% to settle at 45.800 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which gained 1.91% to close at 28.330.
The worst performers were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was down 6.23% to 7.53 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 4.49% to settle at 82.880 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 3.59% to 89.9500 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 2.71% to 11.755, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 2.17% to settle at 26.8800 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 1.68% to close at 37.520.
The worst performers were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 7.13% to 8.660 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 4.49% to settle at 82.880 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 3.59% to 89.950 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 399 to 288 and 92 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.04% to 14.32 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.16% or 2.05 to $1286.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.50% or 0.28 to hit $56.28 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.16 to trade at $66.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.00% to 1.1305, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.8587.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.815.
