Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Software sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.22%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.00%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 3.18% or 0.320 points to trade at 10.395 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 3.00% or 0.415 points to end at 14.250 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was up 2.69% or 0.153 points to 5.848 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which lost 1.34% or 2.350 points to trade at 172.950 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11) added 0.01% or 0.01 points to end at 69.62 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) gained 0.64% or 0.520 points to 81.360.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 3.77% to 34.790, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 2.83% to settle at 4.91 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which gained 2.83% to close at 30.905.
The worst performers were Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which was down 6.24% to 23.670 in late trade, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which lost 2.40% to settle at 48.225 and Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which was down 1.43% to 50.360 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which rose 2.46% to 25.815, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 2.28% to settle at 11.890 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 2.28% to close at 34.715.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 1.47% to 39.65 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 0.82% to settle at 22.445 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 0.12% to 5.805 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 662 to 210 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.44% to 18.60.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.64% or 8.05 to $1264.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.26% or 0.13 to hit $50.07 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.04 to trade at $51.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.0993, while EUR/GBP fell 0.96% to 0.8938.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 97.77.
