Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.66%, while the MDAX index added 0.51%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 3.61% or 0.690 points to trade at 19.815 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 3.04% or 0.355 points to end at 12.025 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was up 2.52% or 4.700 points to 191.250 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn), which lost 2.83% or 0.465 points to trade at 15.965 in late trade. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 1.72% or 1.500 points to end at 85.650 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) shed 0.29% or 0.230 points to 79.070.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which rose 3.76% to 27.455, Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was up 2.14% to settle at 12.195 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which gained 2.11% to close at 27.15.
The worst performers were Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was down 3.20% to 33.300 in late trade, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 1.55% to settle at 107.850 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 1.12% to 55.560 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which rose 3.60% to 39.410, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 2.13% to settle at 34.315 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 1.76% to close at 40.500.
The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 1.10% to 84.830 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 1.10% to settle at 21.120 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 0.99% to 42.485 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 527 to 299 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.51% to 19.47.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.15% or 1.85 to $1221.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $49.59 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.05 to trade at $49.79 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.1178, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.7625.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 95.24.
