Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, Software and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.18%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.38%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 2.48% or 2.900 points to trade at 120.050 at the close. Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG) added 1.54% or 1.250 points to end at 82.250 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 0.95% or 0.112 points to 11.852 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 1.29% or 0.091 points to trade at 6.970 in late trade. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) declined 0.99% or 0.332 points to end at 33.163 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRK) shed 0.97% or 0.925 points to 94.165.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which rose 4.33% to 57.430, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was up 1.42% to settle at 37.850 and Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which gained 1.22% to close at 48.535.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 2.37% to 31.545 in late trade, Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which lost 1.81% to settle at 130.300 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was down 1.65% to 55.175 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 6.48% to 14.295, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 5.26% to settle at 36.840 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 4.51% to close at 20.610.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (F:AIXC) which was down 14.35% to 3.940 in late trade, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which lost 2.87% to settle at 36.730 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.77% to 21.610 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 461 to 423 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.97% to 19.23.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.34% or 4.10 to $1212.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 4.03% or 1.87 to hit $48.23 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 4.08% or 1.91 to trade at $48.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.0608, while EUR/GBP fell 1.09% to 0.8498.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 101.09.
