Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Construction and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.44%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.58%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.46%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 3.56% or 0.725 points to trade at 21.070 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 1.92% or 0.475 points to end at 25.190 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 1.76% or 0.335 points to 19.370 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which lost 0.99% or 1.90 points to trade at 189.55 in late trade. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) declined 0.58% or 0.360 points to end at 61.230 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) shed 0.47% or 0.370 points to 78.000.

The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 3.91% to 37.750, Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was up 3.16% to settle at 9.202 and Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which gained 2.83% to close at 35.625.

The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 4.42% to 50.390 in late trade, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which lost 2.20% to settle at 51.130 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which was down 1.04% to 62.650 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which rose 19.13% to 11.460, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 5.38% to settle at 82.010 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 4.51% to close at 37.190.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 2.48% to 16.135 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 1.00% to settle at 4.753 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 0.58% to 83.440 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 538 to 217 and 36 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.88% to 15.71.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.73% or 9.56 to $1323.66 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.68% or 1.23 to hit $47.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.61% or 1.83 to trade at $52.56 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.1886, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.9222.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 92.79.
