Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Media, Basic Resources and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.37% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 0.35%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which rose 1.74% or 0.520 points to trade at 30.400 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) added 1.51% or 0.56 points to end at 37.69 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) was up 1.07% or 0.960 points to 90.270 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which lost 1.83% or 1.730 points to trade at 92.860 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 0.83% or 0.185 points to end at 22.185 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) shed 0.79% or 0.079 points to 9.961.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which rose 2.22% to 121.85, Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was up 2.20% to settle at 58.060 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which gained 2.11% to close at 82.090.
The worst performers were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 3.77% to 42.55 in late trade, Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which lost 0.87% to settle at 114.200 and Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was down 0.73% to 30.420 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 4.06% to 78.360, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 2.15% to settle at 116.500 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which gained 1.86% to close at 13.160.
The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 1.96% to 4.503 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which lost 1.68% to settle at 72.480 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 1.52% to 39.140 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 408 to 339 and 41 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.53% to 10.98 a new 5-year low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.20% or 2.63 to $1283.57 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $51.86 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.07 to trade at $57.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1777, while EUR/GBP rose 0.13% to 0.8933.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 93.39.
