Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.17%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.45%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 3.43% or 0.680 points to trade at 20.485 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 2.87% or 0.275 points to end at 9.862 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 2.01% or 0.465 points to 23.605 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN), which lost 0.84% or 0.760 points to trade at 89.240 in late trade. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 0.51% or 1.00 points to end at 194.00 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) shed 0.40% or 0.70 points to 175.20.
The top performers on the MDAX were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which rose 5.82% to 39.995, Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was up 3.00% to settle at 114.850 and Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which gained 2.29% to close at 17.440.
The worst performers were Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was down 1.41% to 139.90 in late trade, Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which lost 1.27% to settle at 77.766 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 1.05% to 75.700 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which rose 6.75% to 13.045, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 2.36% to settle at 11.255 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 2.09% to close at 36.805.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 1.36% to 9.982 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 1.19% to settle at 45.290 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 0.96% to 18.917 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 425 to 318 and 41 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.24% to 12.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.27% or 3.53 to $1290.27 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $50.97 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.17 to trade at $56.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1848, while EUR/GBP rose 0.29% to 0.8969.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 92.89.
