Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Technology and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.07% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 0.09%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which rose 1.22% or 1.130 points to trade at 93.860 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 1.16% or 1.35 points to end at 118.15 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) was up 1.00% or 1.75 points to 176.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 1.24% or 0.175 points to trade at 13.995 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 0.83% or 0.800 points to end at 95.100 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) shed 0.63% or 0.550 points to 87.270.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 3.09% to 40.035, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 2.99% to settle at 3.85 and Gerresheimer AG (BS:GXId) which gained 2.05% to close at 65.340.
The worst performers were Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 1.96% to 75.21 in late trade, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which lost 1.86% to settle at 80.570 and Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was down 1.15% to 77.172 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 3.08% to 110.450, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was up 2.17% to settle at 101.250 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which gained 2.15% to close at 78.440.
The worst performers were Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was down 2.15% to 29.145 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 1.63% to settle at 5.912 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.37% to 73.680 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 399 to 351 and 36 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.73% to 11.44 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.50% or 6.45 to $1302.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.68% or 0.85 to hit $51.45 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.74% or 0.98 to trade at $57.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1839, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.8898.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 92.82.
