Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.16% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vivendi SA (PA:VIV), which rose 2.78% or 0.57 points to trade at 21.24 at the close. Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) added 1.72% or 1.23 points to end at 72.83 and Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) was up 1.41% or 1.38 points to 99.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI), which lost 2.33% or 2.55 points to trade at 106.75 in late trade. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) declined 2.05% or 2.45 points to end at 117.15 and Sodexo (PA:EXHO) shed 1.46% or 1.50 points to 101.25.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) which rose 2.78% to 21.24, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 2.27% to settle at 4.684 and Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) which gained 1.72% to close at 72.83.
The worst performers were Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) which was down 2.33% to 106.75 in late trade, Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which lost 2.15% to settle at 45.43 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) which was down 2.05% to 117.15 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 309 to 298 and 87 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.18% to 11.37 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.46% or 6.19 to $1326.51 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.72% or 0.83 to hit $49.06 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.29% or 0.70 to trade at $54.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.69% to 1.1883, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8997.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.62% at 92.46.
