Investing.com – China equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Media and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.51%, while the SZSE Component index added 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Hangzhou Cable Co Ltd (SS:603618), which rose 10.04% or 0.73 points to trade at 8.00 at the close. Zhejiang Jiuzhou Pharmaceutical Co Ltd (SS:603456) added 10.04% or 0.97 points to end at 10.63 and Qingdao Copton Technology Co Ltd (SS:603798) was up 10.02% or 1.730 points to 18.990 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aurora Optoelectronics Co Ltd (SS:600666), which lost 9.99% or 1.140 points to trade at 10.270 in late trade. Zhejiang XinAn Chemical Industrial Group Co Ltd (SS:600596) declined 5.78% or 1.030 points to end at 16.780 and Shanghai Baosight Software Co Ltd A (SS:600845) shed 5.29% or 1.630 points to 29.190.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Beihai Yinhe Industry Investment Co Ltd (SZ:000806) which rose 10.05% to 6.90, Hunan China Sun Pharma Machinery (SZ:300216) which was up 9.98% to settle at 8.93 and Anhui Gujing Distillery Co Ltd (SZ:000596) which gained 7.66% to close at 77.56.
The worst performers were Beijing Sevenstar Electronics Co Ltd (SZ:002371) which was down 5.23% to 49.50 in late trade, Taiji Computer Corp Ltd (SZ:002368) which lost 5.08% to settle at 30.27 and Cefc Anhui International Holding Co Ltd (SZ:002018) which was down 5.00% to 3.04 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 849 to 442 and 84 ended unchanged on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.63 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.10 to $1311.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.59% or 0.42 to hit $71.56 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.53% or 0.41 to trade at $77.62 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.05% to 6.3658, while EUR/CNY rose 0.18% to 7.5535.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 92.88.
