Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4), which rose 6.03% or 3.28 points to trade at 57.70 at the close. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) added 3.92% or 0.24 points to end at 6.36 and Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) was up 3.12% or 0.27 points to 8.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3), which lost 2.67% or 0.76 points to trade at 27.69 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 2.65% or 0.12 points to end at 4.41 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) shed 2.57% or 0.37 points to 14.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 156 to 150 and 38 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.90% to 36.01.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.36% or 4.30 to $1183.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $47.98 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 2.35% or 3.80 to trade at $157.77 .
USD/BRL was down 0.04% to 3.3931, while EUR/BRL fell 0.01% to 3.5817.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 101.77.
