Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 2.33% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which rose 0.60% or 0.12 points to trade at 20.05 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 0.25% or 0.19 points to end at 77.70 and Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) was up 0.23% or 0.05 points to 21.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which lost 6.80% or 1.08 points to trade at 14.81 in late trade. Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3) declined 6.26% or 2.93 points to end at 43.87 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) shed 5.97% or 0.47 points to 7.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 298 to 121 and 35 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.32% to 53.04 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.23% or 2.80 to $1202.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.77% or 1.87 to hit $69.41 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.08% or 1.10 to trade at $100.30 .
USD/BRL was up 1.58% to 4.1491, while EUR/BRL rose 1.61% to 4.8119.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 95.10.
