Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which rose 4.43% or 1.27 points to trade at 29.92 at the close. Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3) added 2.16% or 1.78 points to end at 84.28 and RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) was up 1.42% or 0.20 points to 14.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vale SA (SA:VALE3), which lost 4.82% or 2.28 points to trade at 45.05 in late trade. Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) declined 4.73% or 1.08 points to end at 21.76 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) shed 4.61% or 0.49 points to 10.15.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 262 to 163 and 30 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 11.82% to 31.70.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.07% or 0.90 to $1319.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.32% or 1.46 to hit $61.55 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.74% or 0.89 to trade at $121.97 .
USD/BRL was down 0.16% to 3.2465, while EUR/BRL fell 0.43% to 3.9597.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 90.59.
