Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 4.37% or 0.41 points to trade at 9.79 at the close. Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) added 2.51% or 0.52 points to end at 21.25 and Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3) was up 2.51% or 1.10 points to 45.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which lost 3.30% or 0.19 points to trade at 5.57 in late trade. IGUATEMI ON NM (SA:IGTA3) declined 3.00% or 1.18 points to end at 38.20 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) shed 2.92% or 0.41 points to 13.64.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 307 to 129 and 33 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.24% to 34.41.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.73% or 9.10 to $1250.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.65% or 1.88 to hit $49.59 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.91% or 1.95 to trade at $100.30 .
USD/BRL was down 0.45% to 3.9009, while EUR/BRL fell 0.11% to 4.4257.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 96.588.
