Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which rose 2.79% or 0.23 points to trade at 8.46 at the close. Telefonica Brasil SA (SA:VIVT4) added 1.87% or 0.95 points to end at 51.68 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was up 1.66% or 0.87 points to 53.37 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3), which lost 6.34% or 5.91 points to trade at 87.24 in late trade. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 4.13% or 0.33 points to end at 7.67 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) shed 4.01% or 0.23 points to 5.51.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 203 to 170 and 28 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 7.96% to 31.87.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.82% or 10.54 to $1268.46 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.26% or 0.66 to hit $52.84 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.28% or 0.35 to trade at $124.38 .
USD/BRL was down 0.01% to 3.2904, while EUR/BRL fell 0.37% to 3.8203.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.09% at 94.55.
