Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 3.41% or 1.09 points to trade at 33.10 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3) added 2.89% or 0.64 points to end at 22.75 and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) was up 2.79% or 0.44 points to 16.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3), which lost 3.31% or 1.48 points to trade at 43.30 in late trade. CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) declined 3.08% or 0.26 points to end at 8.19 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) shed 3.03% or 0.90 points to 28.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 228 to 187 and 27 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.73% to 28.58.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.44% or 5.80 to $1326.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.67% or 0.41 to hit $60.95 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 1.39% or 1.66 to trade at $121.28 .
USD/BRL was down 0.03% to 3.2608, while EUR/BRL rose 0.40% to 4.0393.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 89.70.
